1.01: Why should I sign-up for an account? (Back to Top)

You must have a BioWare Account in order to post in the forums, participate in member-only events and receive official or private messages. Signing-up is free.

1.02: What is a BioWare Account? (Back to Top)

This will grant to special access to all Bioware sites, including forums.bioware.com and nwn.bioware.com and any other site we may start. Once logged in on one you can move between any of them without having to login again.

1.03: What does 'activating my account' mean? (Back to Top)

The steps are:

  1. . Make up a Player/Community Name that will identify you (also called a username).
  2. . Make up a password to keep your account secure.
  3. . Enter a valid, working e-mail address you can check.
  4. . BioWare will send you an e-mail that address. Click on the link contained in the e-mail.
  5. . You are activated. This means you are registered, logged in and ready to
  6. explore the site.

1.04: Why do I have to activate my account? (Back to Top)

There are several reasons for requesting a valid , working e-mail address that the activation code is sent to:

  • Cut down on spam. If you need to enter an e-mail address with your registration then it is less likely an individual whose goal is to cause grief will take the time to fully register.
  • Increase security. Each Member has the potential to be sending and receiving some important stuff via this site and we wanted to make sure things are secure.
  • Regaining lost passwords.
  • Possible future application with contests, submission of material and so on.

1.05: Why do I get a white page sometimes with a warning about the content on this page does not exist because it was submitted form data that has expired? (Back to Top)

Click refresh. That should bring things back up.

1.06: More information on accounts and activation. (Back to Top)

  • Inactivated accounts will be deleted after a period of time. You activate an account by filling in your username (called a Player or community Name), deciding on a password and giving a valid email address you can check. The activation code will be sent to that email address.
  • Accounts created through our game Neverwinter Nights need only be activated for use - There is no need to sign up
  • We have multiple levels of access on our forums, we have forums restricted to different types of users, and sometimes you will be able to read forums but not post in them.

1.07. How come everyone else has a nice portrait and I don't? Include Me! Love me! (Back to Top)

  • You can choose a portrait to be associated with your account from the Edit Details page under My Account.
  • The portrait is global throughout the BioWare universe. Which means everyone on any BioWare site will see that picture when they view your profile.
  • There are some portraits reserved for special users/groups and hence will not show up for you to choose.

1.08. What's the weird highlighting on the Members list? (Back to Top)

It means that the person is online somewhere on the BioWare Universe.

1.09. I cannot login, it keeps telling me that I need cookies? (Back to Top)

Cookies are bits of information about your preferences your browser collects. Without them you will not be allowed to sign up or login as we need that information to maintain security. BioBoards attempts to set a cookie with your session information so that the system knows you are logged in. If it cannot set that cookie, it will not let you login. Sorry. Click here for a more detailed explanation.

1.10. I forgot my password/Community Name (Back to Top)

We are deeply hurt. :) Click here. This will take you to a page of instructions to get your password/Community Name
