2.01: What is the difference between an Official Message and a Personal Message? (Back to Top)

  • An Official Message will appear at the top of your messages no matter when they arrived in your message box. These will be messages from site Administrators or Moderators. You cannot reply to official messages
  • A Personal Message are from everybody else and will be listed with the most recent at the top (below any Official Messages).

2.02: Do we have an Outbox? (Back to Top)

Yes. Messages sent by you will be automatically saved in your Outbox.

2.03: Let's Talk About Deleting Things. (Back to Top)

  • Delete multiple messages from either inbox or outbox by clicking on the checkboxes and clicking "Delete Selected Messages".
  • Messages in inbox and outbox will be deleted automatically after one month.
  • Messages about to be deleted will be flagged with a red envelope one week before deletion.
  • You cannot recover messages once deleted.

2.04: Can I use all my Forum kung-fu and special effects in my messages? (Back to Top)

Yes, posts in the forums and messages are the same.

  • You can use the same formatting as in forums posts including smilies and formatting code, such as [b][/b] and [quote][/quote].
  • You can attach your signature.

2.05: Are Messages E-mail? (Back to Top)

No. Messaging is for inter-site communication only.

2.06: How Do I Send a Message? (Back to Top)

  • You can send a message by clicking on View/Send Messages in the My Account section. This will bring up your inbox.
  • You can send a message to anyone on the BioWare sites by typing his or her exact Player/Community name into the 'To:' field. When you click "Send Message".
  • Type in subject and message and click send.
  • Message will be automatically delivered.
  • You can also click the "Message" icon for any person's post in the forums, on the "Send Message" link on the Who's Online page, on their profile page or on the Members list.
  • Keep in mind you must have a subject to send a message.

2.07: What is a Buddy List? (Back to Top)

The Buddy list is used to make sending messages to your friends much easier. Your buddies are listed under the 'Send to' command when you are typing out a message. You simply click the name so that is it highlighted and that buddy will be sent whatever message you are writing when you are completed and click 'Send Message'.

  • You can have up to 20 different buddies on your list.
  • Type in the exact name of your new buddy in message preferences page or click on the "add to buddies" link when someone sends you a message, or from someone's profile page.
  • You cannot list the same person twice in your buddy list.
  • Administer your Buddy List from the Message Preferences Page
  • You can choose up to 5 buddies from your buddy list when you send a message.
  • Select multiple buddies by holding CTRL key (PC) or COMMAND key (Mac) and clicking on the names

2.08: What is my Ignore List? (Back to Top)

If you do not wish to receive messages from certain members, we have created the Ignore List.

  • Click the "Add to Ignore" list when a person sends a message.
  • You cannot ignore a Moderator or Administrator
  • Messages sent by people on your Ignore List will be deleted before they reach you.
  • The person will not be notified that they are on your Ignore List.
  • If someone is being offensive or spamming please inform a Moderator or Administrator.
  • Administer your Ignore List from the Message Preferences Page

2.09: Can I forward a message I get to my E-mail Address? (Back to Top)

Why yes, actually. When you are looking at a message you have received, simply click on the 'Forward to My Email' link while viewing a message and, like magic, it will do just that. The e-mail will be sent to is the same one you entered when you signed up.

2.10: But I really don't care about receiving private messages, except for super official ones. Can't I just turn them off? (Back to Top)

Yes you can. Check out your Edit Preferences page under My Account / Edit Details. You can choose to ignore all private messages except for those marked official or sent by Administrators and Moderators. As with your ignore list, the person sending the message will not be informed that you have opted to disable private messaging.
